Three Tips For Your First EDM Festival Experience

Blog

If you're a fan of EDM, nothing can compare to the thrill of seeing your favorite artists perform a live set. That's why the atmosphere at a festival is filled with excitement and positive energy. However, if you've never shared a musical experience with 100,000 people before, it's easy to make a few mistakes.

The best way to avoid this is to know what mistakes people make. If you avoid these common oversights, you're almost guaranteed to have the time of your life.

Mistake #1--Showing Up Late

Most EDM shows outside of festivals are either in arenas with assigned seats or smaller capacity clubs. That means you're almost guaranteed to have a good line of sight on the artist no matter where you're sitting. Unfortunately, the festival environment usually has tens of thousands of people and a first-come, first-served structure.

That means you'll want to arrive when the gates open. You'll also want to go to the stage for your favorite artist a few acts in advance. That way, as people leave, you'll move up and have an excellent spot for your targeted artist.

Mistake #2--Dressing Incorrectly

At a festival, you'll see people wearing all sorts of clothing options. Some people will dress in their everyday attire, while others might not wear much clothing at all. While that means you can get away with just about any outfit you want, it also doesn't help you decide what to wear.

Remember, you're going to be moving around a lot and you're not going to want to hold onto clothing. You'll want to dress in a few light layers. Also, no matter what else you wear, be sure to choose comfortable shoes that cover your entire foot. Nothing makes a festival experience worse than a foot injury caused by dancing--either your own or someone near you.

 Mistake #3--Forgetting To Drink Water

It's easy to get caught up in the atmosphere at a festival. Also, when one artist is finished, it's natural to want to get to the next stage right away for the next amazing set. People often forget to drink enough water because of these factors, and dehydration is a real concern.

As a rule, you shouldn't go more than one set without drinking 12-16 ounces of water. You have to not only drink your suggested 8 glasses of water a day, but also replace all of the water you'll likely sweat away. Drink water early and often during a day at a festival.

EDM music festivals are probably one of the easiest places in the world to have a good time. As long as you avoid these common mistakes, you're almost guaranteed to have the time of your life.
