Tips For Planning Your Irish Themed Wedding Reception

Blog

If you are interested in celebrating your wedding with an Irish themed reception, you will want to take a few moments to check out the following suggestions. This way, you and your guests will be sure to have an amazing time.

Add Irish Music To The Mix

Now, while there is nothing wrong with having your DJ play nothing but Irish music, it might not resonate with everyone in the crowd. Therefore, you might want to mix it up a bit. You can use some famous Irish folk songs for things such as your first dance, the dance with the father of the bride, or some dancing games that you want to play. As the evening wears on, you might want to start incorporating more upbeat or current dance music that the majority of the people at your reception will recognize and enjoy dancing to.

Offer A Variety Of Irish Foods

While you might want to have more traditional wedding reception foods for those whom might be picky eaters, you will want to incorporate your Irish theme with the addition of a few simple dishes. For example, having potato soup and a corned beef carving station would be a great start. You might also want to ask the bartender that you are hiring what he or she may have in the way of Irish beers to serve those who are of the legal drinking age. Just make sure that you are still having your bar tender serve other types of drink as well for those who are not fans of Irish beer.

Add Green Everywhere

Whether you are looking for something to decorate the tables with or you want some nice things to hang on the walls, you might want to stick with the well known and very popular shamrock and the color green. After all, this is what most of your guests will recognize as being Irish and will therefore enjoy the scenery around them a lot better. Of course, you might not want to over-do it with green so stick with white table clothes and chair covers. Add a green ribbon around the chairs or green floating candles in a clear glass dish that has a shamrock engraved on the front of it.

With those few simple tips in mind, you should have no problem making sure that your wedding reception is as Irish as it can get without going over the top. All you have to do now is start shopping and putting everything together.
